Spurrier's 70th birthday to feature golfing, boating, and a cheesecake

Steve Spurrier might not want a "big party" for his 70th birthday, but that doesn't mean it won't be an extravaganza. He plans on getting some golf in as he always does in the offseason, he's going to get on a boat, and he's going to eat dinner with some family friends from Orlando, Florida. He'll be at the Black Diamond golf course near Crystal River in Florida before heading up said river for dinner and to meet up with his wife, Jerri. The Spurriers will spend the night at their home in Crescent Beach and then head back to Columbia on Wednesday for just a family birthday celebration complete with Mrs. Spurrier's cheesecake for the Head Ball Coach. \

The best part though? Steve Spurrier truly doesn't believe he's getting, at least old according to his wife. "Just so much of it is in your mind. If you think you are old, you are old. If you don't, you're not," she said. "It's been a long time since I have seen him happier and more peaceful than he is right now about the things that are going on in his life. I think he is just genuinely enjoying it. He's kind of excited about having a birthday."

That's good news for the coach and for USC. An energetic coach is a fun one to be around and we know that Spurrier can coach some kids up too so he's got that part on lock down.
