Two defensive starters dismissed from South Carolina

That's a huge blow to the team.

New South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp has dismissed two defensive starters from the team. Defensive back Al Harris and defensive end David Johnson were the two players that Muschamp let go. "They are no longer part of the team," Will Muschamp said. "We wish them the best."

Harris played in 11 games last season and had 25 tackles with four pass breakups while Johnson played in 10 games a year ago and had 20 tackles, including 1.5 for a loss. He also had two quarterback hurries.

The Gamecocks have 68 scholarship players currently on campus. South Carolina signed 18 players in the 2016 recruiting class, which means they are currently one over the 85 scholarship maximum.
