Sports Illustrated picks this team as the biggest wild card in the SEC

This one might surprise you.

With the college football season inching closer to us, and with it comes times for predictions for the 2016 season. The folks at Sports Illustrated recently ranked the wild card teams in each conference — and the one from the SEC s particularly interesting. SI chose to use Florida as the conference's wild card — just one year after the Gators clinched a trip to the SEC Title game last season. Here's a little bit about what they had to say about the Gators.

"Even in a conference that contains Alabama, Florida might be the SEC's best defense.
Couple that with a typically weak non-conference slate (excluding Florida State), only one challenging game among its first five (at Tennessee), and a schedule that doesn't include Alabama or Ole Miss, and the Gators could win 11 games if their defense stifles the weak and unproven offenses of the SEC East."

Florida opens its 2016 season at home against UMASS on Sept. 3rd. The media picked Florida to finish third in the SEC East, behind both Georgia and Tennessee.
