Former SEC standout linebacker A.J. Johnson is in trouble with the law once again, as the former Tennessee Volunteer was arrested early Saturday morning on a DUI charge.
He was released on bond Saturday.
Via The Knoxville News Sentinel:
"The officer said Johnson had bloodshot eyes, smelled of alcohol and had a "marijuana cigarette" sitting in plain sight inside the vehicle."
"Johnson reportedly told the officer that it was a "blunt" he had been smoking. He also told the officer he had been drinking earlier in the day."
The newspaper also notes that Johnson was charged with, along with the DUI, "failure to exercise due care while driving and implied consent. He was also cited for simple possession. "
In 2015, Johnson was arrested on aggravated rape charges. That case is still on hold due to a pending decision by the state Supreme Court.
Johnson led the SEC in tackles in 2012.
