Butch Jones fires back amidst rumors of Peyton Manning coaching interest

He doesn't sound thrilled.

The rumor mill was churning Wednesday, when Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report noted retired veteran Peyton Manning would have interest in coaching at his alma mater.

Despite the lack of evidence hinting at that actually happening, and Freeman acknowledging he doesn't know if it's accurate, Tennessee head coach Butch Jones was asked about it, per 247sports:

"We talk all the time and I think anything Peyton Manning does, he'll be successful," said Jones. "But coaching is a completely different animal than playing, as any great player would tell you.

"But, again, I welcome him any time he wants to come in to Tennessee and spend time with our players. He's been great that way. He's been very willing to do that. We've been very fortunate and blessed to have him be a part of our teams, coming in and speaking to (them), and this year will be the same."

If Manning were to take on a coaching gig, he hasn't been shy about the one he wants.

As for Jones, judging by those comments, he doesn't seem too keen on the legend returning to Rocky Top.
