Peyton Manning has always shown some interest in coaching at his alma mater in some fashion. He doesn't want to be the head coach as he says that too much pressure and is a lot of like politics.

"Quarterbacks coach, I would do at Tennessee. Head coach? Absolutely not," Manning told "The Dan Patrick Show" in September. "People in Tennessee like me right now, Dan — I don't know why. But you become the head coach and cut that in half right away. 'Why are you throwing it on fourth and one? Why did you punt there; you should go for it.' Cut it in half — it's like being in politics."

Manning has already shown the willingness to be a QB coach as he went down to Miami to visit Ryan Tannehill is learning another new offense under Adam Gase who was Manning's offensive coordinator in Denver.

If Manning really did want to become a head coach and would only go to Tennessee, the Vols would be looking down the barrel of a major payout to current coach Butch Jones. Jones is signed through 2020 and he would get paid $2.5 million for every year left on his contract. He also just got a $500,000 raise in December and has improved the team's record each of his last three years.
Would it really be worth it to get rid of Jones just to install Manning as a first-time coach at a major university? I think not, but it would certainly be awesome to see Manning on the sidelines in some capacity. "Peyton Manning, QB Coach" has a nice ring to it.
