Redshirt freshman Jarrett Guarantano is expected to make his first career start on Saturday against South Carolina, according to Volquest.

Guarantano, the top-ranked dual-threat quarterback for the 2016 national recruiting cycle, has taken limited reps for Tennessee this season. However, given Quinten Dormady's struggles, a change is necessary with much of the Vol fan base calling for Jones' job.

Dormady has thrown for 925 yards, six touchdowns and six interceptions during five appearances this season. Even worse, he's only thrown one touchdown and five interceptions in SEC play and has a completion percentage under 54.0-percent in losses to Florida and Georgia.

Guarantano has thrown for 54 yards and a touchdown on 12 of 24 passing, while rushing for six yards on 10 attempts. Surely those numbers will improve with more reps and hopefully, for Jones, the redshirt freshman can provide Tennessee's lackluster offense with a spark.

It's worth noting that Dormady was still listed as the starting quarterback on Tennessee's most recent depth chart, but that could change within the coming days.

There is also a growing rumor that Dormady left the team on Tuesday, although that has yet to be confirmed.

Tennessee is currently 3-2 on the season.
