Sheriron Jones is a rising redshirt freshman and is expected to be the first backup behind incumbent starter Josh Dobbs. It would have really helped if he could have gotten some repetitions this spring just in case Dobbs goes down with an injury. However, Jones went down with an injury of his own and coach Butch Jones says he will be out for the rest of spring.

"Sheriron Jones will miss the rest of the spring. He kind of had an unusual injury on Saturday, but we expect him to fully be back by June and by the start of training camp. But he'll miss the rest of the spring."

What injury occurred exactly is not known, but two program sources tell 247Sports that Jones has been seen on crutches and it is a leg injury. Jones opted to transfer to Colorado before coming back to Tennessee on full scholarship before the window of return had expired.
