Paul Finebaum predicts Tennessee’s replacement for Butch Jones

SEC Network host Paul Finebaum has announced his prediction for who will be Tennessee's next head coach.

SEC Network host Paul Finebaum has announced his prediction for who will be Tennessee's next head coach.

During his show on Monday, Finebaum said "if I had to paint a picture for Tennessee I would put Dan Mullen's face on the canvas," as tweeted out by producer John Hayes.

Mullen has coached in the SEC since 2005 both as an offensive coordinator at Florida (2005-08) and a head coach at Mississippi State (2009-present).

He currently holds a 66-44 (31-37 SEC) head coaching record and has led the Bulldogs to seven consecutive winning seasons. In 2010, Mississippi State earned its first No. 1 overall ranking in program history and finished with a 10-3 (6-2 SEC) overall record, earning Mullen several coaching honors including the AP and Athlon SEC Coach of the Year awards and the Maxwell Football Club Coach of the Year award.

Tennessee has yet to fire head coach Butch Jones, however, Finebaum — among many others — believe his termination is inevitable. During an appearance on Mike & Mike last week, the SEC Network pundit correctly predicted a historic loss to Alabama and said Jones' tenure was "already over."

"I think after Saturday when Tennessee rolls into Tuscaloosa and loses by some historic proportion that could be the end," Finebaum said. "It's hard to predict the end for Butch Jones because it's already over."

However, Jones managed to keep his job and will coach the Vols during Saturday's game at Kentucky. Whether he'll last any longer than that is still up for debate.
