Former Tennessee starter will reportedly miss remainder of the season

The Vols will be without one former starter for the rest of the 2017 season.

Tennessee quarterback Quinten Dormady will reportedly undergo shoulder surgery and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2017 season, a source confirmed to ESPN's Chris Low.

Dormady was a starter during the Vols' first five games and went 3-2, but was replaced by redshirt freshman Jarrett Guarantano following a 41-0 home loss to Georgia. The junior finished the game for 64 yards and two interceptions on 5-of-16 passing.

Dormady recorded 925 yards, six touchdowns and six interceptions during five appearances this season, which included just one touchdown and five interceptions in SEC play, as well as a completion percentage under 54.0 percent in losses to Florida and Georgia.

The junior has served as Tennessee's backup during its last two games against South Carolina and Alabama, but reportedly didn't make the trip to Lexington for Saturday's game against Kentucky.

Last week, Tennessee insider John Brice reported that Dormady was expected to miss extended time due to a shoulder injury and would likely need surgery, which would effectively end his season as it will require a lengthy rehab process.

Additionally, Volquest reported through sources that Dormady visited doctors in Chicago in order to run tests on his right shoulder, which forced him to miss practice on Wednesday and Thursday during the week of the report.
