"Rocky Top" is the best fight song and now we have proof

USA Today conducted a fan vote on which school has the best fight song in the country and it should come as no surprise that Tennessee won the contest. Volunteer fans are very passionate about their school and "Rocky Top" originally recorded by the Osborne Brothers.

The brothers recorded the song in 1967 and it became a top 40 hit on the Billboard country chart. Released in 1970, Lynn Anderson's version cracked the top 20. Two years later, the Vols' Pride of the Southland Band played it during halftime of the Tennessee-Alabama game. The fans went bonkers, and at that point the late band director W.J. Julian knew his pupils were onto something. From then on, he kept "Rocky Top" in the Pride of the Southland's repertoire.

And the rest is definitely history as they say. The song is played at every game and the fans never fail to sing along.
