We have our first targeting call of the season, and some people aren't going to like it.
Well, no one really likes the targeting rule, but anyways...
In the first quarter against Appalachian State, Tennessee linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin got really aggressive when covering a punt, knocking App State's Jaqel Capil to the ground.
The refs saw the helmet-to-helmet hit and immediately called targeting, resulting in Reeves-Maybin's ejection.
The hit was definitely deserving of a penalty, but a lot of people aren't going to be happy about something like that resulting in an ejection. It's a rough rule, and Tennessee found itself on the wrong side of it on Thursday night.
