Tennessee says R.I.P. to one of the best new traditions in college football, and here's why

This is kind of sad.

The Tennessee Volunteers really had one of the most infectious and special new traditions going in college football before it had to be quashed by coach Butch Jones. The Vols had started the "Third Down For What?!" chant every time opponents faced a third down against the Tennessee defense. However, it seems the chant has run out of downs.

The chant was a spoof of Lil Jon's song "Turn Down For What" that was super popular during 2014 when the chant started. However, because of the rapper's prior history, the song will be turned down permanently according to Jones. "We'll have some different songs to get the crowd energized," Jones said at Monday's press conference.

The song was mentioned in the Title IX lawsuit against the school that was recently settled for $2.48 million. The lawsuit claimed that the university maintained a "hostile sexual environment" of which the song was a part of. In 2014, Lil Jon collaborated with other rap artists on a music video titled"Literally, I can't." It was regarded as offensive to women and the theme was to not take the answer "no" from women.
