Tennessee won't participate in usual summer drills

Interesting decision for the Tennessee coach.

Tennessee coach Butch Jones isn't afraid to change things up and do something different if it protects his players. Many schools and often times pro teams will run 7-on-7 drills in the summer to keep their guys fresh and work on fundamentals. It looks like Jones is not having any of that because he wants to keep his guys healthy though.

"It's a fine line there," Jones said, according to GridironNow.com. "For probably the last seven years, we've done no 7-on-7 drills or one-on-ones in the summer because we've had some players injured and we're trying to get them to training camp.

"We focus more on individuals and the fine details and the fundamentals and rhythm and timing in the throw game."

Jones has experienced injuries by key players so he doesn't want to take any chances going forward. Especially since this season is one of the most pivotal for Jones in his fourth year at Tennessee and everyone has high expectations for the team this year. They are expected to be a top ten team and if they make the leap like everyone hopes then they should definitely meet those expectations.
