Ten years to the day, James Wilhoit missed an extra point to tie the game in the fourth quarter against Florida. Erik Ainge had completed a 13-yard TD to Jayson Swain with 4:17 left. But the Vols remained down one due to the missed extra point.
All Florida had to do was run out the clock and it would win the game. But, they didn't. The Gators punted to the Volunteers with 55 seconds left.
That was enough time to give Tennessee a chance to win. James Wilhoit drilled a 50-yard field goal. Tennessee got its first home win over Florida since 1998.
Wilhoit went from scapegoat to hero in a matter of four minutes. The Vols won 30-28.
