Freshman Will McBride made his first career start against Missouri on Saturday night in the absence of injured starter Jarrett Guarantano.

McBride, who was on pace to redshirt before entering last week's win against Southern Miss, is the third quarterback to start for the Vols this season. The freshman burned his redshirt after taking over for Guarantano following an ankle injury that forced him to miss a series late in the second quarter and the entire second half.

Junior Quinten Dormady opened the season as the team's starter, but was benched for Guarantano midway through the season and is inactive after undergoing shoulder surgery recently.

McBride threw for 13 yards on 1-of-8 passing during his only appearance of the season last week. The Texas native rated as a three-star prospect and was the No. 29 overall dual-threat quarterback for the 2017 national recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Guarantano was shown riding a stationary bike on the sidelines in full pads during kickoff and will be active if needed.
