Young Vols receiver deemed academically ineligible ahead of potential breakout year

Rising redshirt freshman receiver Vincent Perry was set to have a breakout year at receiver — a position the Vols needed improvement at going into 2016 — but it seems that he has been ruled academically ineligible. Tennessee coach Butch Jones told GoVols247 on Wednesday afternoon of Perry’s situation.

Perry will stay at Tennessee as a walk-on until he does what’s necessary to get back in the good graces of the coaching staff and academically with the school. Jones called the move a good one and a step toward a potentially positive outcome in the situation.
