E.J. Smith, the son of legendary Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith, will transfer from Stanford to Texas A&M.

The running back also made a post on his Instagram with a caption that read, "Let's ride #committed #gigem" with a thumbs-up emoji.
Smith had been with Stanford since 2020. In that time, he played 24 games, racking up 109 carries for 557 yards (5.1 yards per carry) and five rushing touchdowns, plus 59 receptions for 386 yards and one touchdown.
Coming out of Jesuit High School in Dallas, Texas, Smith was a four-star recruit and the No. 130 overall prospect in the 2020 class, according to On3.
Smith has graduated from Stanford and will finish his college football career with A&M, which overhauled its coaching staff by hiring former Duke Blue Devils head coach Mike Elko. In 2020, the Aggies were interested in Smith as a recruit, with several players including Jashaun Corbin, Deneric Prince and Jacob Kibodi transferring.
His dad, Emmitt, also took to Twitter to promote the announcement.

The elder Smith played for the Florida Gators from 1987 to 1989. There, he racked up 700 carries for 3,928 yards and 36 rushing touchdowns, and he added 56 receptions for 463 yards and a score. He finished ninth in the Heisman Trophy vote in 1987 and seventh in 1989. He was the No. 17 overall draft pick in the 1990 NFL Draft by the Cowboys.
In Dallas, he went on to have a Hall of Fame career, including winning three Super Bowls. He was named the 1993 MVP, was a four-time All-Pro, and was selected to eight Pro Bowls.
Smith finished his career with 18,355 rushing yards and 164 touchdowns.
