The Dallas Police department, which has been undergoing a criminal investigation of Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel for an alleged domestic violence incident with his ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley, has taken the next steps in its investigation. The investigation involving Manziel, who was accused of hitting Crowley so hard that her eardrum burst from the blow, has been closed, and the case will be referred to a grand jury, the Dallas PD announced in a statement released Thursday. No details of the investigation will be released before the case is presented.
"The investigation of the domestic violence assault involving Jonathan Manziel, which occurred on January 30, 2016, has been completed. Today, a Class A misdemeanor Assault/Domestic Violence case has been referred to the Dallas County District Attorney's office for presentation to the grand jury. The Dallas Police Department will not release any details of the investigation while it is pending grand jury presentation." The statement read.
The Dallas Forth-Worth Police department — separate from the Dallas PD — closed its investigation without charging Manziel with any criminal crimes on Feb. 4, prior to the Dallas police department announcing it would be launching a criminal investigation against the Browns QB. Cleveland, meanwhile have pretty much cut all ties with the QB — the team released a scathing statement earlier this month that essentially confirmed they would be releasing him next month.
