The Texas Longhorns' season ended with a loss to the Washington Huskies in the College Football Playoff semifinal, and former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel had something to say about it.
Manziel is single-handedly renewing the rivalry between the two Lone Star state schools as we prepare for the Longhorns to make the jump to the Southeastern Conference. The Longhorns finished the year with just one loss, reaching the College Football Playoff as the No. 3 seed. They were favored against Washington but came up short 37-31, and Manziel took to Twitter to troll the program.

In 2024, Texas and Oklahoma will leave the Big 12 and join the SEC, and Texas A&M is scheduled to host the Longhorns on Nov. 30.
Now that both teams are in the SEC, we'll likely see their rivalry reignite. Texas A&M versus Texas was a tradition, as they played each other yearly from 1915 to 2011. That changed when the Aggies left the Big 12 to join the SEC.
The funny thing is Manziel grew up a massive Longhorns fan, but he didn't play in Austin because Texas didn't show much interest in him.
The last time the Aggies and Longhorns played was in 2011. Manziel was on the team but redshirted that season and didn't play. Justin Tucker solidified his kicking prowess with a last-second field goal that propelled the Longhorns over the Aggies, 27-25.
During his two seasons in the program, Manziel completed 595 passes on 863 attempts for 7,820 yards, 63 touchdowns and 22 interceptions. He won the Heisman Trophy in 2012 and finished fifth in the voting 2013. He went on to become the No. 22 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, although he had virtually zero success at the professional level and had numerous off-the-field problems.
It's unclear who the starter at Texas will be next year. Will Quinn Ewers go to the NFL or transfer? Will Arch Manning take over or transfer? For the Aggies, Conner Weigman figures to be the signal-caller.
Either way, we can expect a renewed intrastate rivalry between the Aggies and Longhorns once again, as we did for nearly a century.
