Texas A&M Is Keeping 2024's Top-Ranked Athlete

After what was almost a potential transfer, Five-Star Plus+ athlete Terry Bussey has decided to stay with the Texas A&M Aggies over LSU and Georgia.

For context, Bussey originally committed to Texas A&M in September. Of course, the coaching staff was much different then. Now, former Duke Blue Devils head coach Mike Elko oversees the operation. While Elko's goal was to keep as much of that 2024 recruiting class in place as possible, it's not uncommon to see players leave or rethink their decision as Bussey did.

Still, that didn't stop Elko from building a relationship with Bussey.

"The relationship I have over there with those coaches — even with the new coaches— is pretty much unmatched," Bussey said near the end of December. "They've got great guys over there, great talent, great coaches. Just overall a great, great place and a great fit for me."

According to Bussey, he hears from Elko and the staff daily, making him feel like a priority.

Now, Bussey is staying with the Aggies instead of jumping ship to LSU or Georgia.

Per On3, Bussey, a Timpson, Texas native, is the No. 11 overall prospect and No. 1 "athlete" in the 2024 recruiting class. The scouting report on Bussey reads, "Do-it-all athlete who is arguably the best high school football player in the state of Texas. Measured a shade over 5-foot-10 and around 180 pounds before his senior season."

Fans on X provided their opinion of Bussey staying at College Station.

"Money prevails again. Any bets on how long before he transfers?" one fan said.

"Good to see another one stick with his commitment!" another person said.

"From a Tiger fan I want to say Good luck Terry! I wish you were a Tiger but totally understand. I wish you great success! You are a Class Act! A great young man with great character," another fan wrote.

The Aggies season kicks off on August 31, 2024, against Notre Dame. We'll also be eager to see what position(s) Bussey plays under Elko.
