Longtime Auburn Tigers' head coach Tommy Tuberville is considering running for governor of Alabama for the Republican Party. However, because he was the coach of the Tigers for so long, he's going to have to sway lots of Alabama residents who are fans of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide to vote for him.
Tuberville was asked about this potential dilemma on a radio station in Birmingham, and this was his response:
This an interesting route to go, and perhaps one that will get more Crimson Tide fans on his side, but also lose more Tigers' fans as I'm sure they don't like to be reminded of Nick Saban's arrival at Alabama. Still, his point is an interesting one.
Tuberville sees his superb record against the Tide as the reason as to why the university of eventually brought in Saban. Without Tuberville's dominance for years over the Tide, perhaps Saban never comes.
We'll never know for sure, but it certainly seems like Tuberville is serious about making a run as governor of Alabama.
