Class of 2017 linebacker Markail Benton (6-foot-2, 227 pounds, Phenix City, AL.) released his Top 5 teams to the Opelika-Auburn News on Monday and it is loaded with a couple of powerhouses. The five schools are Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, and Mississippi State.

"I've liked the campus of each of those schools and they're all really good programs," Benton said. "They're all at the same level for me right now."
Despite being recruited by Will Muschamp at Auburn, Benton told the Opelika-Auburn News that he coaching change does little to change his opinions on schools, and that he is familiar with Muschamp's replacement — Kevin Steele. Auburn is considered the heavy favorite for Benton, with 247Sports giving the Tigers a 100% chances of landing the linebacker.
Benton is rated a four-star recruit by 247Sports, and is rated the top 2017 recruit for state of Alabama by the same service.
