The University of Texas already has enough problems at quarterback, problems that have existed for several years. This certainly won't help.
The Longhorns announced on Wednesday that starting quarterback Jerrod Heard suffered a shoulder injury in spring practice. The severity of the injury is currently unknown.
This is bad news for Texas, as the sophomore was going to be best option at quarterback in the fall. Heard started 10 games for the Longhorns in 2015, and he appeared to be a better option that backup Tyrone Swoopes. Head coach Charlies Strong has already had enough problems at the school, and this could add another impasse that he must find a way to get around.
We will update Heard's status as it is made available.
