Two months ago, the NCAA took major action when they ruled that they would be banning satellite camps.e came after Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh was running wild on the camp circuit, with the SEC responding to Harbaugh's antics by putting pressure on the NCAA to ban the practice.
After some criticism, the NCAA reversed their decision, and satellite camps have been gaining traction ever since. However, different kinds of criticism have been evolving to the satellite camps, as Harbaugh has come under recent scrutiny for how much is being spent on the camps.
Because of that, the NCAA may try to take action yet again. According to the Virginian-Pilot, the NCAA may look to ban school-sponsored satelitte camps, and instead offer NCAA sponsored camps at pro facilities.
The NCAA is considering banning satellite football camps and replacing them next spring with camps it would sponsor at NFL training centers and high schools.
The move would be interesting, as it is clear the NCAA is trying to find some sort of middle ground on the controversial camps. It would be interesting to see how the camps would function under NCAA rule, though, as an NCAA-NFL partnership on the camps might be more sketchy than just regular camps sponsored by teams.
