There's at least one candidate that could crash the Jimbo Fisher-to-LSU party

He'd certainly fit the model they're looking for.

All reports over the last few days have noted the interest from LSU in Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher.

And while the speculation continues that it's Fisher's job if he wants it, Tom Herman is reportedly still a viable candidate. And an interested one at that, per The Advocate.

According to the report, Herman, Fisher and Ed Orgeron are the three top prospects for the job.

As for a timeline, the report details it is expected to be a "Sunday to Wednesday" hiring process, with the Texas job possibly extending the process.

According to ESPN 104.5's Charles Hanagriff, per Jacques Doucet, LSU has made a "substantial offer" to Fisher to be its next head coach.

According to CBS Sports, the Tigers could finalize an agreement by this weekend, after LSU's regular-season finale against Texas A&M Thursday night.

There's been plenty of chatter around the head coaching gig, with LSU "optimistic" they can land Fisher.

LSU is shifting its focus with whatever new hire the Tigers go after, heading in a more offensively-minded direction.

Herman would also fit that bill if he lands the LSU gig. Orgeron would be expected to bring in a proven offensive coordinator with a track record of developing quarterbacks if he lands with the Tigers.
