Chris Clark was the top 2015 tight end recruit in the country, but his stay at UCLA is already over.

Clark, who chose UCLA over Michigan on National Signing Day, is no longer enrolled at the university according to a report from the Orange County Register, and the expectation is that he will transfer to another FBS program. Naturally, the focus has already shifted to where the former five-star recruit will land, a prominent national voice is already whispering that Jim Harbaugh and Michigan could be in the mix.

It is always natural to think that the runner-up choice could move to the front of the line in a case like this, but Michigan does have a lot of other talent at the tight end position, including an investment in the 2016 class. Still, Clark appears to have real upside given his size (6-foot-5) and athleticism, and when Jake Butt moves on from the program, Michigan could use an impact talent to replace him.
To be clear, no formal reporting has indicated that the Wolverines would pursue Clark again (and 247Sports speculated that the "ship has sailed" on this possibility), but until Jim Harbaugh closes the door, the chatter will continue.
