Interim head coach Alex Mortensen shared the update, calling it "good news" after a frightening week for the program.
"I've had the opportunity to sit with our injured players and their families, and they are okay with me telling you that they have left the hospital and are recovering," Mortensen told reporters. "They appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers."
Court documents identify the injured players as defensive linemen Josh Underwood, a freshman, and JaSire Peterson, a redshirt sophomore.
Both were hospitalized following an on-campus incident that led to the arrest of redshirt freshman offensive lineman Daniel Mincey.
Mincey, listed at 6-foot-3 and 315 pounds, has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault. UAB officials have not released details about what led to the stabbing, and the potential motive remains unclear.
Mortensen thanked first responders, athletic trainers and medical staff for their rapid response, saying their actions played a major role in stabilizing the players. The university has not announced any additional disciplinary measures as the investigation continues.
Despite the severity of the incident, UAB chose to play its scheduled game against USF just hours later. The Blazers fell 48-18 in a contest overshadowed by the events earlier in the day.
