Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer had an interview with GridIron Now this weekend, and he had some pretty candid thoughts about his biggest current rival in the coaching business — Nick Saban.
Of course, saying Nick Saban isn't a great coach would be blasphemous, and Meyer clearly did not say that, electing to heap a ton a praise on the Alabama head coach. That praise including the hiring of offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin.
"I think what he's done on offense with Kiffin was impressive," Meyer said. "He has really adapted. And that's the key to being a great football coach. Adapting, moving forward and keeping on moving and understanding momentum — which he does."
It's a shame that Meyer and Saban are no longer in the same conference, as the two potentially facing off frequently would lead to some pretty great promotion in interviews between the two. Both coaches are at the top of the game right now, and both have a bit of an ego when it comes to being great. Hopefully Saban does not retire too soon, as we could all use a few more Ohio State-Alabama matchups in the future.
