Former five star recruit and USC quarterback Max Browne is set to transfer, and it looks like he doesn't mind traveling a long way to find a new school. According to ESPN, Browne is set to visit Pitt this weekend on an official visit, Browne's first since announcing his intention to leave USC.
Browne has one year of eligibility remaining. As a graduate transfer, he will be eligible to play immediately in the 2017 season.
The transfer market is currently ripe with quarterbacks that will be eligible next season, as Malik Zaire and Jarrett Stidham are also still on the market after announcing their decisions to transfer from Notre Dame and Baylor, respectively. Browne adds a different dimension to the market, as the 6-foot-5 quarterback fits more into a pro-style system than Stidham and Zaire do.
Pitt quarterback Nathan Peterman will be out of eligibility at the end of the season, so the Panthers are almost a perfect fit for Browne to come in and play. However, with Browne playing at USC and being from Washington, it is a surprise to see him trek across the country and make Pitt his first visit.
Browne was named USC's starter at the beginning of the 2016 season, but he was quickly benched after a 1-2 start to the season. Browne is a former five-star recruit of the 2013 class, where he was rated as the nation's No. 1 quarterback.
