A surprising school has passed both Alabama and Georgia in recruiting rankings

This is unreal.

It may still be early in the recruiting cycle, but this isn't even one that we would have expected.

After picking up two commitments on Thursday, Vanderbilt now finds itself ranked ahead of both Georgia and Alabama in the recruiting rankings over at 247Sports. As of press time, Vanderbilt ranks 47th for the 2018 class, while Georgia ranks 55th and Alabama 58th.

Vanderbilt made the move after getting commitment from three-star recruits Gavin Schoenwald and Ben Bresnahan on Thursday. With those two, Vanderbilt currently has six commitments for the 2018 recruiting class.

While Georgia and Alabama are your traditional recruiting powers, the two schools have both yet to take off in the 2018 cycle. It is still early, though, as several recruits are still uncommitted and there are plenty that will likely change their decision before the final signing day in February. However, seeing Alabama and Georgia below Vandy when most teams are starting to see their recruiting classes take shape is... awkward.
