However, the celebrations briefly took a turn for the worse as video footage from inside the Mercedes-Benz stadium tunnel captured a lady driver crashing a golf cart into the wall. And there was special cargo onboard as it was carrying head coach Ryan Day along with national championship MVP players Will Howard and Cody Simon.

Luckily everyone seemed to be unharmed, with Howard seen laughing it off, yet, it appeared that Day may have been shaken up as he didn't crack a smile.

All in all, the Buckeyes were certainly in a good mood despite the crash, considering they just won their ninth title in school history.

In view of the game, Ohio State dominated on both sides of the ball for most of the night, but there was a point in time where the Irish fought back and almost mounted a comeback.

Quarterback Riley Leonard connected with wide receiver Jaden Greathouse on a pair of long touchdowns to make it a one-score game.

Ultimately, the Buckeyes were able to hold on, as Howard and star Freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith hooked up on a long 3rd down completion, in what could be regarded as the play of the game.

Howard had 231 pass yards (17-for-21) and two touchdowns, while running back Quinshon Judkins had 11 carries for 100 yards and three touchdowns.

With a championship this year, this makes history for Ohio State as many might remember in the first year of the college football playoff system in 2014, the No. 4 Buckeyes defeated No. 2 Oregon 42-20. Now, a decade later, No. 8 Ohio State is the first school to win the 12-team college football playoffs.
