Just last summer we ripped Florida State for creating "championship rings" after they won 10 games and beat in-state rivals to run the state of Florida. They went on to lose the Chick-Fil-A Bowl and it just came off as a participation trophy of sorts following years of success.

This year, Kentucky's rings are giving the 'Noles a run for their money.
Kentucky certainly can't match Florida State for their history of football success, but the Wildcats handed out rings for a winning season, beating Louisville in the regular season and making, (not winning), making a Bowl game. Oh yeah, they lost that Bowl game as well, 33-18, to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
The Wildcats hadn't had a winning season since 2009 and it was their first Bowl performance since 2010.
But hopping one game over .500 doesn't warrant championship rings. Stop the participation trophy culture. Kentucky seems to be on the right path — they were in the running to make the SEC championship game in the second half of the season. Wait it out and hand out awards when they're deserved.
