Baseball player gets hit in the helmet with a fastball, and what happens next is head scratching

In a game against Mississippi State, Florida's Ryan Larson took a fastball to the head.

That hit the helmet square, and Larson dropped like a rock. Here's the surprising part — he stayed in the game and took the base.

In an era in which concussions are big news in all sports, it's a bit surprising to see a college player stay in the game — especially since, as reported from the scene, Larson eventually had to come out.

The good news — x-rays were negative, though Larson is now day-to-day.

Larson is a big part of the Gators attack. He's second on the team with a .318 average, and has a slash line of .318/.402/.478 with five home runs and 23 RBI.
