For those who played Diablo II, the Necromancer class will likely be a familiar, even fond memory. While the other classes featured offensive spell usage and traditional weapon swinging mechanics, the Necromancer provided an alternate method to gameplay that stood out from the rest. By raising undead minions and elemental golems, the Necromancer was able to lead miniature armies through the game in an experience that was as unique as it was enjoyable.

While admittedly disappointed when Diablo III revealed a lineup of classes that did not include my favorite undead overlord, Blizzard eventually revived my interest in the game when the studio announced his return to the series at BlizzCon 2016.
Today, just over six months later, the developers have released the opening cinematics for the Necromancer class for Diablo III. Check them out:
Though an exciting reveal in itself, players have been fairly vocal in their surprise and, at times, disdain for the announcement. It's been 5 years since the game's launch after all, and while there have been a handful of content updates and expansions since, it's still considered by some to be a title past its prime. As one particularly cynical commenter stated, "Not even the Necromancer can revive this dead game."
For those who don't share these opinions, the Necromancer pack will launch with Patch 2.6.0 alongside a number of other new features. Stay tuned to Blizzard's official website for information regarding the release date and pricing.
