It's hard to assign any game the title of, "the greatest game ever made." There's too many moving parts to a video game, too many things that can and will go wrong. An excellent, gripping story can be marred with an underwhelming soundtrack, poor gameplay mechanics, inexperienced or awkward voice work, performance issues, or an ineffective marketing campaign that fails to get the product where it needs to be. Even the most highly-reviewed games of the last year suffered from seemingly basic issues; The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild had poor enemy variety, for example, while PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is routinely criticized for a lack of balance in newer updates.

Still, if there's one title that could be universally hailed as the greatest, it's arguably 2005's Shadow of the Colossus. Everything from the game's epic tone mixed with its haunting atmosphere provided the perfect backdrop for a genuinely awesome adventure. Even today, more than a decade later, many still wistfully refer to Shadow of the Colossus with respect and admiration for accomplishing so much at such an early stage in the video game industry.
A trailer for the inevitable remake was announced in June during E3, and while it served as an excellent teaser in displaying glimpses of the game's more iconic boss fights and locations, players were left wanting more (aren't we always?). Luckily, another trailer was just released that showed more footage from the upcoming title. Take a look:
The footage almost looks like nothing has changed - until we take a moment to look back on the trailer for the first game from 2005 (which also aired at E3). It's clear that Shadow of the Colossus hasn't just undergone your standard HD update, and as the game's being marketed as a total remake rather than a remastered edition, it's easy to be optimistic about the upcoming release. A recent video from IGN did an excellent job at comparing both versions, so feel free to check that out too.
Shadow of the Colossus has been given a vague release date sometime during 2018, when it will launch exclusively for the PlayStation 4. We'll be doing our best to keep you updated on any future news regarding the title, so stay tuned.
