Brock Lesnar (6-3) returned to the Octagon after a five-year layoff and dominated Mark Hunt (12-11-1), a top-10 UFC heavyweight contender to a decision victory.
Hunt came into the bout with an outstanding 69 percent takedown defense, but that was no problem for Lesnar, who took him down three times in the first round and pummeled the samoan.
Lesnar returned for the second round absolutely gassed, and it showed in his footwork and effort as Hunt stalked the former champ around the canvas. In the third and final round, Lesnar took Hunt down and just pounded the side of his head for the majority of the final five minutes.
Lesnar lost both of his final two bouts in the UFC by TKO before bouncing to the WWE. Hunt recently climbed up the heavyweight rankings, winning back-to-back bouts against Antonio Silva and Frank Mir.
It wouldn't be a surprise to any if UFC sets up a super bout for Lesnar against Cain Velasquez after his dominant victory over Travis Browne earlier in the night for the No. 1 contendership. Stipe Miocic will fight Alistair Overeem in Cleveland for the heavyweight title at UFC 203.
