Conor McGregor's chances to KO Floyd Mayweather just got better after latest ruling

A big win for McGregor?

If this wasn't already enough interest in the Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather boxing match, this should help.

The Nevada Athletic Commission granted a waiver on Wednesday allowing the boxing match to take place with both fighters using 8-oz gloves. The fight initially called for 10-oz gloves, but both McGregor and Mayweather requested the 8-oz gloves in their waiver.

The smaller gloves would usually favor the more powerful hitting in a boxing match, which would seem to be McGregor in this situation. McGregor's only real chance of winning the match against Mayweather — possibly the greatest defensive boxer of all time — is to score a knockout, and those chances go up with the smaller gloves.

Mayweather and McGregor will square off in the ring on August 26 in Las Vegas. Mayweather (49-0) will be looking for the 50th win in his career, while McGregor — the current UFC Lightweight Champion — will be participating in his first professional boxing match.
