Cena hasn't been seen on WWE television since, but that may change very soon. The Doctor of Thuganomics tweeted Sunday morning that after finishing up another project, he's eyeing a return to Smackdown Live and WWE.
Taking a second to regroup and recharge. Finishing up a wonderfully funny project in Atlanta, then a trip back home is long overdue @WWE

Cena doesn't specifically say when he's returning or how long the project he's working on in Atlanta will take. Still, Cena electing to tweet about his return is a good sign that it's coming sooner rather than later while this fresh in fans' minds.
Cena, now 40-years-old, has moved to part-time status with the company in recent years, but with Smackdown Live stacked with stars like Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ Styles, Randy Orton, Kevin Owens and more, his absence hasn't been as detrimental for the blue brand as it could have been.
There are a number of interesting ways WWE's creative team could work him back into the thick of things, perhaps most notably in a program with WWE champion Jinder Mahal, WWE United States champion Kevin Owens or maybe even Baron Corbin.
No matter how long this return ends up being for Cena, it will definitely be nice to see one of WWE's biggest stars of all-time back "home" on Smackdown Live.
