When injuries occur in MMA, they're often too brutal to bear for very long. What happened to Brennan "Irish" Ward at Bellator 170 over the weekend induces exactly that level of cringe.
Ward was the unfortunate recipient of a knee to the face from Paul Daley halfway through the first round. And it was so brutal, the resulting injuries to his face are startling.

After a spinning elbow dazed Ward and sent him stumbling to gain his balance, Daley seized the opportunity for the picture-perfect flying knee kick, putting a quick end to the night. And Ward left the cage on a stretcher.
The win moved Daley to 39-14-2, while Ward dropped to 14-5.
