Nate Diaz's camp claims Conor McGregor is using steroids, but here's a more realistic explanation for weight gain

Out of bounds for Diaz's camp to call out McGregor?

On Saturday night, Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz will step into the Octagon at 170 pounds after the latter took the last-second fight following Rafael dos Anjos' injury.

Diaz's coach Richard Perez isn't holding back from stirring the pot, claiming McGregor is juiced up, per Bloody Elbow via Bleacher Report:

"I sure do believe that [he's on steroids], heck yeah. Some guys, they get busted - and to be honest with you, I know McGregor has got to be on some kind of steroids. He's pretty big, and then all of a sudden [he's] jumping to 170? Yeah there's no way, because I mean, he was supposed to be fighting at 155.

So if you think about it, he was focusing on training at 155. He only had two weeks to go. And all of a sudden he's gonna jump to 170? So no, there's something going on."

While that drop might seem insane, it's fair to go back to July of last year, when McGregor's was rumored to be training at 172 pounds ahead of his interim title bout at 145 pounds.

McGregor denied those claims and said he walks around at that weight, but even if it were a bit high, the champ training near 170 isn't out of the realm of possibility.

We'll see how much speed and athleticism the featherweight champ maintains while fighting at the much higher weight.
