One-time coach arrested after allegedly assaulting UFC fighter

Punches thrown!

It was a wild weekend for UFC fighter Matt Brown.

After exchanging punches with Brazilian fans ahead of his UFC 198 bout with Demian Maia, then getting submitted in the fight, things only got worse Sunday morning when Brown's former coach, Rodrigo Botti allegedly attacked him.

According to MMA Fighting, Botti attacked Brown in the hotel lobby and the MMA fighter's friend chased him down, leading to the brawl above.

The UFC has responded to the incident, via MMA Junkie:

"UFC is aware that welterweight contender Matt Brown was allegedly attacked today by a former acquaintance at the UFC 198 host hotel in Curitiba, Brazil," the statement read. "UFC has been in communication with local authorities to gather more information relative to the alleged attack, and is reviewing security measures at the hotel.

"Fortunately, Brown was uninjured in the situation and will return home to the United States later today as planned."

Brown was previously accused of assault by Botti, but there wasn't enough evidence to prove it.
