Roman Reigns' relationship with the WWE Universe remains one of the more interesting and problematic dynamics in wrestling today. There are a lot of opinions out there as to what the WWE should do with Reigns' character going forward, but there has never been a unanimous opinion on this issue.
For WWE star Ryback was the latest figure to jump into the Roman Reigns Character conversation and offered a somewhat different idea as to why the WWE hasn't officially turned Reigns heel.
Here is what Ryback had to say on his Conversations with The Big Guy podcast:
"If you remember correctly, fans were cheering the f*ck out of him when he was part of The Shield," said the former 'Ryback.' "So here's another theory, and like, fans though... the more successful you are, the more people hate you. But, I do feel, like [Ryback and podcast co-host Pat Buck] talked about, you have to acknowledge them on a certain level, but the reason, if they haven't done it yet, it's probably because of the merchandise numbers that he's pulling in [are] probably very, very strong. Oh, I know so."
It certainly wouldn't be surprising for this to be one of the major reasons as to why the WWE hasn't officially turned Reigns, but there isn't enough information or data available to see what Reigns' merchandise sales are actually like compared to the rest of the roster.
