UFC fighter CB Dollaway is lucky he wasn't more severely injured after a malfunctioning hotel elevator reportedly dropped several floors to the basement on Friday with him in it.

The UFC released a statement early Saturday, acknowledging the incident and noting Dollaway has been pulled from the Cleveland card:
"UFC announced that CB Dollaway has had to withdraw from his scheduled bout at UFC 203 due to an injury he suffered last night as a result of an elevator accident at a hotel in Cleveland.
UFC officials have been in communication with hotel management, and the hotel is currently evaluating and investigating the issues surrounding the incident."
Dollaway was slated to face off against Francimar Barroso before the injury was sustained.
UFC reporter Ariel Helwani shared what he discovered when trying to get a comment on the injury:
By the way, that was 3 elevator incidents involving UFC fighters or staff in a 24-hour stretch. Stairs it is from here on out.

Just spoke to the manager at the Wyndham Hotel in Cleveland about the Dollaway elevator incident. Gave me a quick no comment. ...

I then asked to speak to the general manager of the hotel. She said the GM would have no comment either. She said I should speak to UFC.

I told her why should I speak to the UFC about your elevator injuring someone. She said no comment and a company was coming to fix it.

As for the extent of Dollaway's injury, I was told he suffered a back strain. Just kept getting worse after the accident. Not good at all.

That just terrible news for what is an already light card. UFC reportedly won't fill Dollaway's slot with another fight, and the card will go on as planned.
