Two of the most polarizing figures in sports have reportedly agreed on a blockbuster fight

Are you kidding?!

With Conor McGregor very much on the outs with the UFC, and his trash talking remaining at the top of its game, the UFC featherweight champion has reportedly agreed on a megafight against boxing's elite, Floyd Mayweather Jr., per The Sun.

A source told The Sun: "Floyd is calling the shots. It's strictly boxing and Conor will have to lose roughly 25lbs.

"It was agreed in principle on May 2, but Floyd wouldn't reveal the identity of his opponent until last night when he told friends he'll be fighting Conor."

McGregor said previously he could "end" Mayweather in less than 30 seconds.

According to the report, all that's left is the two fighters signing the paperwork to make it official.

When asked about it, veteran MMA reporter Ariel Helwani didn't give the rumor the time of day:

For McGregor, it could be all posturing in an attempt to get what he really wants — the rematch at 170 pounds against UFC's Nate Diaz. The featherweight champion was pulled from the UFC 200 card after he failed to show up for promotional opportunities.

There's no question McGregor, much like Mayweather, loves dollar signs and this fight could provide plenty of those. Will there be enough hype and money involved to bring Mayweather out of his "retirement?" We'll see if these two actually put the ink to the paper and start building this thing.

In the meantime, it's fun to simply imagine what could be if the two stepped inside the ring together.
