UFC confirms: McGregor-Diaz II will happen, and on this date

It's happening!

There were reports that the UFC was nearing a deal between featherweight champion Conor McGregor and welterweight contender Nate Diaz for a second fight at UFC 202 on August 20 in Las Vegas. During the UFC 199 show on Saturday night, the UFC confirmed that the much awaited rematch will indeed happen on that date.

The first fight between the two took place in March during the UFC 196 show, where Diaz pulled the massive upset and submitted McGregor in the second round. The show pulled one of UFC's best buy rates of all-time, and it was figured that the two would rematch at UFC 200 on July 9: the UFC's biggest show ever.

All of that fell apart, though, when McGregor announced his abrupt retirement on Twitter. The move was quickly seen as a negotiating tactic by McGregor, as he was likely leveraging for more money for the fight.

Whether he got it or not is unknown, but the shenanigans got McGregor pulled from the UFC 200 show as a result. However, the UFC is getting their fight, and it looks like it will turn UFC 202 into another supershow for the increasingly popular promotion.
