UFC Hall of Famer B.J. Penn got annihilated in his return to the Octagon from a two-year layoff

Aging fighter's return to UFC tough to watch

B.J. Penn's (16-11-2) return to the Octagon after a two-and-half year layoff was spoiled by a beatdown so thorough, it was like watching an aging prize fighter get in the ring one too many times.

The 38-year-old former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion went up against much younger fighter in 24-year-old Yair Rodriguez (10-1) and the disparity in speed and overall skill was so evident that you could hardly bear to watch. The bout was called for Rodriguez in a TKO just 24 seconds into round two.
