WATCH: Former WWE star hailed as hero after stopping attempted robbery

Gaspard previously worked for WWE in two separate stints.

Former WWE star Shad Gaspard is being hailed as a hero after stopping an attempted robbery at a gas station in Florida.

Gaspard was at a Valero gas station in Coral Springs, Fla. when he was approached by the suspect, Jason Felix. Felix then asked Gaspard to make a purchase before him, to which Gaspard replied in the negative. Felix then pulled on gun on Gaspard, who was able to take it away.

According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, Gaspard attempted to pass off the gun to the cashiers so they could call the police, but they declined to take the weapon. Gaspard then took down the suspect before his former WWE tag team partner, JTG, saw the situation from their vehicle and called the police.

Shad says he tried passing the gun off to the cashiers, but they didn't want it — and the guy started making his way to the door — so he slammed the man's head into the door, pulled him outside and got the robber into a rear naked choke hold. That's when JTG and co. saw what was happening and called the cops.

The suspect was later taken into custody by the police and charged with attempted robbery. The weapon turned out to be a BB gun and not a firearm.

Gaspard worked for WWE in two stints from 2002-2006 and 2008-2010. Aside from his WWE career, the 6-foot-7 Gaspard has previously worked as a bodyguard.
