Extreme Rules has gotten off to a blazing start, and it didn't stop as Cesaro and Sheamus knocked off Matt and Jeff Hardy to win the Raw Tag Team titles in a crazy steel cage match.
Cesaro and Sheamus have been chasing the Hardy Boyz since WrestleMania 33, and they finally took the belts from the boys from North Carolina in the Hardys' speciality — an extreme match.
Sheamus and Cesaro make a run up the cage to start the bout, but the Hardys pull them back in. The champs have their opponents seated between the rope and cage and are slamming their heads against the cage as the crowd chants "DELETE."
The Hardys lay out Cesaro and Sheamus and make their way up the cage, but the challengers come up and get them. Jeff Hardy has escaped, but Matt Hardy is pulled back in. It's now 2-on-1 with the challengers against Matt Hardy. Matt Hardy is on the top of the cage and Jeff Hardy has climbed back up to get his brother, but the challengers drag Matt Hardy back into the ring. Cesaro and Sheamus hit a double powerbomb off the top rope, and Jeff Hardy is trying to get back into the cage.
Matt Hardy nearly escapes after knocking both competitors down, but Cesaro hits an uppercut on the top of the cage before Sheamus hits White Noise from the top rope! Jeff Hardy climbs back up to the top of the cage and hit Whisper in the Wind from the top of the cage! It was a race between the four as Matt Hardy pulled Jeff Hardy toward the cage door as Cesaro and Sheamus climbed over the top of the cage. Cesaro and Sheamus's feet hit first and we've got new champs.
Although Cesaro and Sheamus may have been an awkward fit early on in their partnership, they've grown to become the perfect heel tag team on Raw, similar to what happened when Cesaro was paired up with Tyson Kidd and Natalya a few years ago.
For the Hardy Boyz, it should be interesting to see where they go from here. One would expect this feud to continue into the rest of the summer, but you never know.
This will be the second reign with the Raw Tag Team titles for Cesaro & Sheamus.
