Three people were hospitalized after a Mercedes crashed through the wall of a golf pro shop at a historic Massachusetts country club.

The frightening incident occurred shortly after noon Saturday at Brae Burn Country Club in Newton, located approximately 10 miles west of Boston.
According to Boston 25 News, the driver of a white Mercedes sedan crashed into the club's pro shop. The driver and two employees working inside the shop were transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
Police said all three people suffered injuries that appeared to be non-life-threatening. Their identities were not immediately released.
The Newton Fire Department and a city engineer responded to inspect the damage and determine whether the building remained structurally sound. Crews later boarded up the large opening left in the wall by the vehicle.
Authorities have not said what caused the driver to crash into the shop. The incident remains under investigation.
Brae Burn is one of the most historic golf venues in New England. Founded in 1897, the club has hosted several United States Golf Association championships.
The most notable was the 1919 U.S. Open, which Walter Hagen won by defeating Mike Brady in an 18-hole playoff. It was Hagen's second U.S. Open victory and one of his 11 major championships.
Brae Burn also hosted the 1928 U.S. Amateur, won by legendary golfer Bobby Jones, along with the U.S. Women's Amateur in 1906 and 1975.
The club has not publicly commented on the crash or indicated how long repairs to the pro shop might take.
